Constipation usually arises from insufficient amounts of fiber and fluids
in the diet, and results when waste material moves too slowly through
the large bowel. Some other causes are pregnancy. lack of exercise, nervous
tension, stress and the side effects of some drugs. Elimination of wastes
should take place every 18 to 24 hours, after this harmful toxins spread
through the body and side effects such as headaches, skin blemishes, insomnia,
bad breath and indigestion may follow. Natural laxatives such as prunes,
figs and linseed or castor oil can be taken. Half a cup (4 fl oz) of aloe
vera juice in the morning and at night are beneficial and fresh fruits
and raw green leafy vegetables should be eaten on a daily basis. Follow
the instructions for the abdomen massage, paying particular attention
to the left side, the area of the descending colon. Always massage the
abdomen in a clockwise direction only. Cardamom oil is refreshing, invigorating
and warming. It should be massaged on the abdomen for digestive complaints.
Coriander and fennel are also beneficial. Apply pressure for 3-7 seconds
to the following points.
Point 1: Two thumb widths either side of the navel.
Point
2: One and a half thumb widths below the navel.
The area of the descending colon should also be massaged with the
thumb and fingers and kneaded. This is on the left side of the abdomen.
Point
3: One and a half thumb widths on either side of the spine level
with the fourth lumbar vertebra.
Point
4: On either side of the spine in the first sacral notch.
Point
5: Three thumb widths below the knee and half a thumb width
to the outside of the tibia
Point
6: Your finger widths above the inner ankle.
Point
7: Between the second and third toes proximal to the web.
