Lower back pain

Millions of people suffer from lower back pain which can be caused by being overweight, lack of exercise leading to weak leg and back muscles. sleeping on soft beds or bad posture. Prevention is far belter than cure. but if you are already in pain the following should be helpful, as long as you have seen a doctor and have no broken bones, slipped discs, bone diseases or other serious bone problems. Rest and stay quiet. Lie on a firm mattress in a comfortable position. Keep your back warm with hot water bottles or towels to promote blood circulation. Use warming oils such as black pepper, cardamom or cinnamon. Incorporate the following pressure points into your massage and press for 3-7 seconds during the course of your massage.

Point 1: One and a half thumb widths on either side of the spine at the level of the second lumbar vertebra.

Point 2: One and a half thumb widths on either side of the spine at the level of the 4th lumbar vertebra.

Point 3: On either side of the spine in the second notch of the bony triangle.

Point 4: In the main depression at the side of the buttocks.

Point 5: In the mid-point below the crease of the buttock at the top of the thigh.

Point 6: In the center of the back of the knee.

Point 7: In the center of the calf. midway between the back of the knee and the ankle.

Point 8: Midway between the outer ankle and Achilles tendon.

Point 9: Midway between the inner ankle and Achilles tendon.

Avoid pressing point 8 if you are pregnant.
